We use commercial-grade locks with AES-256 encryption—the same standard used by banks. All communication is encrypted end-to-end. Honestly, it's more secure than physical keys that can be copied at any hardware store.
The app notifies you when battery is getting low (usually lasts 6-12 months on standard batteries). Even if it dies completely, there's a physical key backup and a 9V battery jump port on the exterior to power it temporarily.
Your choice. The locks support both codes and physical keys. Most property managers give tenants a code only, which makes turnover easier. But if you prefer physical keys for certain tenants, that works too.
